A spectacular laser light show will illuminate landmark locations across Newcastle city centre to celebrate the New Year.
The Laser Light City display will see high-powered lasers set up at the Quayside, Hadrian’s Tower and Newcastle Civic Centre to create an interactive exhibit.
Newcastle City Council; the city's business improvement district, NE1; and BAFTA award-winning artist Seb Lee-Delisle have worked together on the project that will light up the night sky from December 30 to January 1.
The public will be able to take turns to curate the laser light show from their smartphones via the Laser Light website, which will be going live nearer the time.
Council bosses have also promised that two New Year's Eve firework displays will go ahead on the city's Quayside on December 31.
The first of the spectacular shows will take place on New Year’s Eve at 6pm to suit families before a second show takes place at midnight to ring in the New Year.
This year's display will feature live music and people are urged to get there early to get a good vantage point.
🎗We just wanted to say thank you for supporting your 100 % local community station and media group. We are the only community interest media company that is run by local people for local people. We aren't owned by a national plc group and we are so incredibly proud of that. But with that comes a bigger challenge for us to maintain funding to keep providing the excellent service to our communities. We'd love it if you could help by donating just £2 a month to keep Nova all over.
