Deep within the cold, dark, smog fuelled streets of the North-East industrial
town, Middlesbrough, a small group of individuals called *riffraff have been
consistently supplying the area with their underground fixes for over 19 years.
It’s not unusual to see lampshades, cushions, top hats and even nappies being sported by pirates, OAPs, Batman, Robin and people covered in boot polish.
The *riffraff booking policy is simple. If they like them, they book them.
Unknown, known, big, small, DJ set, live act, it really doesn’t matter as long as
they deliver. In general, their home is Base Camp, a 350 capacity multi room
venue, with a vibe that is second to none, and three boneshaking sound
systems... though they often throw other parties in off-locations around
Teesside.
Their resident DJ’s are Lee Pennington (Zoo Project), Lee Walker (Defected), Sahar
(Paridiso Records), Matty Innocent (Mojoheadz), Joe Mckenna (Mixmasters) and
Roxby & Keef (Hotwire Records) with the Resident Band being none other than Undivine Telephoneline.
*riffraff have just returned from Ibiza playing some more intimate venues across the island and have came home with all guns blazing to throw the party of all parties
for their 19th birthday celebrations.
Basecamp Middlesbrough is the chosen venue and doors open at 5pm - and they rave right through to 2am with twenty-three DJ’s and three bands!
*riffraff is evolving into something not too dissimilar to the iconic
Hacienda Club back in the day, with their diverse and fun-loving attitude to
underground music and this is reflected when you look at the clientele.
Everyone fits right in at *riffraff whether they're 21, 61, gay, straight and from any corner of the globe - this party embraces the true concept of riffraff.
Head over to Resident advisor to bag a ticket before they sell out!
The party will be broadcast LIVE on Nova 102.5fm from 10pm, straight after the weekly
*riffraff radio show this Saturday Night 8-10pm BST.
You can check out the Ibiza shenanigans, and a whole lot more on the Official *riffraff Facebook page.
