Santa bus returns for magical tour of North East - when and where you can see it

The Go North East bus, featuring Santa and his elves, will visit Newcastle, Northumberland, North and South Tyneside, Gateshead, Sunderland and County Durham this month

A popular Santa bus will be touring the North East again this year.

Go North East is bringing back its open-top Santa bus to help spread some Christmas cheer between December 15 and December 23

The vehicle has been decorated with Christmas lighting donated by Parkside Community Centre, in Seaham, and will feature Santa and his elves.

Just like last year, the bus will not stop at any of the locations but will be moving slow enough for people to get photos and videos.

It is due to visit areas in Newcastle, Northumberland, North and South Tyneside, Gateshead, Sunderland and County Durham. Scroll down to see the full list of dates and locations.

Stephen King, Go North East’s commercial director, said: “We’re delighted to be spreading some festive cheer again this year.

“We were blown away by how popular the Santa bus open-top tour was last year, and we can’t wait to get started again, seeing all those smiling faces as we pass through the region’s villages, towns and cities.”

This year, families will be able to use a Santa tracker to see where the bus is. You can download the Go North East app and track the vehicle in real-time.

People are advised that the schedule is subject to change. Follow Go North East’s Facebook and Twitter pages, and the dedicated Go North East Santa Bus Facebook page for the latest updates.

🎗We just wanted to say thank you for supporting your 100 % local community station and media group. We are the only community interest media company that is run by local people for local people. We aren't owned by a national plc group and we are so incredibly proud of that. But with that comes a bigger challenge for us to maintain funding to keep providing the excellent service to our communities. We'd love it if you could help by donating just £2 a month to keep Nova all over.
