For generations of Geordies, a trip into town to see Fenwick Window is an essential part of the festive season.

And on the day of the unveiling on Northumberland Street would usually be packed with families gathering to watch the grand reveal under a flurry of fake snow.

But for a second year, the annual unveiling will take place online and a cordon will be in place around the window.
